Ethics and Research Management

The Ethics and Research Management Department ensures the development of quality and consistency in all types of research conducted within the GHS.  The Department hosts the Ghana Health Service Ethical Review Committee (GHSERC) which reviews and approves all proposals for research to be conducted in GHS facilities or by GHS personnel.
The Department also facilitates/conducts regular monitoring visits to ongoing trial sites, to ensure that projects are conducted according to approved protocols and in accordance with Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
It ensures that investigators submit periodic reports of on- going projects for continuous review and final project reports.


 

Deputy Director

Qualifications: BA in Economics and Dip Ed (University of Cape Coast-Ghana), MA in Health Economics (University of Cape Town-South Africa), PhD in Health Economics (University of Cape Town-South Africa), certificate in Management (GIMPA-Ghana)

 

Position/Designation: Deputy Director (Ethics and Research Management)/Health Economist, External examiner for the University of Ghana and the University of Cape Town-South Africa

 

Expertise:  Health care financing, Costing and health systems proposal development

 

Area of Interest: Health care financing, Economic Evaluation, health systems strengthening, equity and efficiency issues in health research, Economics of malaria and other communicable and non-communicable diseases.
