Nursing Services

Nursing Services Unit is responsible for quality improvement in all nursing and midwifery activities in the region. The main objective is to ensure the highest standard of nursing and midwifery practice in the region.



Among the achievements include;

  • Participation in new CPD programme pretesting.
  • Orientation of Nurse/Midwife Managers in nursing informatics, administrative procedures and lactation management-
  • Support supervision with NMC team to Nkrankwanta health centre, Dormaa East DHS, Holy Family Hospital Techiman and Berekum.
  • Participated in Meningitis Death Audit in Techiman, Wenchi and Sampa Hospitals.
  • Orientation in Nursing and Midwifery procedures to newly qualified professional nurses and midwives- (260)
  • Participated in Orientation of new staff and promotion interviews (15th to 20th August, 2016).
  • Clinic inspection visits to six (6) private, CHAG, and Quasi gov’t facilities.
  • Participated in Maternal Death Audit Conference on 15th July, 2016.
  • Participated in Newborn champions planning meeting.
  • Attended Advisory Board meeting, four times in CHNTC and Berekum NMTC.
  • Clinical outreach to Tain, Wenchi district and Sumahenkro three times with other clinical team members.



  • Tailor made training in medico-legal issues
  • IPC and TOT at Glamossay hotel,Syi. On 13th to 18th June,2016
  • Lactation Management training.(abt.350 people)
  • AGM and 1st Scientific session of GCNM held on 1st to 5th August,2016.
  • BFHI Breast feeding substitute code monitoring training at Moda Hotel.
  • Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Training at Regional hospital, Municipal and SDA hospitals are on-going.
  •  IPC planning meeting 12th to 13th May
  • New born care planning meeting held on 6th to 8th June, 2016.
