Child Survival

The child health programme covers age group 0-18years.The initial basic target of 0-59 months (0-5years) is covered with the following package to ensure proper development and growth of the child:

  • Growth monitoring
  • Immunization
  • Vitamin A supplementation
  • Treatment of minor ailment and referrals
  • Deworming
  • Ensuring safety, avoidance of malaria (use of ITN)

 

1.1.1Growth Monitoring

The coverage for children aged 0-11 month attending CWC registered 100,944 (94.8%) during the year under review. Age group 12-23months registered 43,115 (40.5%) in 2016, and age group 24-59 months registered 37,872 (11.8%).

Total number of schools visited for the period was 7,088, number examined in the Schools was 444,855 and the number of children referred were 7,027 with the following conditions;

  1. Hernia
  2. Eye problems
  3. Ear problems
  4. Skin problems
  5. Oral health
  6. Anaemia

 

For school health services topics discussed included;

  • Personal and environmental hygiene
  • Good eating habit
  • Nutrition
  • Teenage pregnancy
